Generating PDFs
Best for sending
PDF (Portable Document Format) files are the best format for sending faxes using our service. The purpose behind a PDF is to generate a file from any application that will look and print the same on any computer, or operating system, even if that application is not installed. It basically makes things easier and more reliable.
Generating PDFs from applications normally involves installing a virtual 'printer'. When you print your document to the PDF printer, you get a file instead of a printout.
Windows
- CutePDF offer a free PDF printer driver that will provide the ability to create PDFs from any application as it works as a printer driver and is compatible with Microsoft Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista/7.
- There are many web sites that perform the conversion for you free of charge. doc2pdf.net is a good example.
- Microsoft have an add-in for Office 2007 that allows you to save as PDF. You can download that here.
- Adobe Acrobat Pro is a professsional's PDF suite of tools and contains Adobe's original PDF printer driver.
Apple Mac OS X
- Great news, PDF support is built right in to the operating system. Bring up the print dialog from any application and select the 'PDF' drop-down menu, then 'Mail PDF'. A new mesasge will be created with your PDF attached.
Linux Distributions
- There are a variety of Linux solutions available. One of the more popular is CUPS-PDF (Google search).
Once you have your PDF file, send it to fax number@send.faxtastic.co.uk and we'll do the rest.
Regrettably, we cannot provide any technical support for these or other PDF solutions.
